Haitians from Miami, New York, and New Jersey stood outside the Capitol in the nation's capital on October 30, 1997. Joined by members of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, they protested the treatment of Haitian immigrants and asked for fairness for the Haitian community, which has been victim of particularly strong prejudice and discrimination.
