The All African Students Union of the Americas
In the 1950s, at a time when their countries were still under colonial rule, African students, with very little means, were nevertheless well organized. The All African Students Union of the Americas (AASUA) was founded by 109 students in 1953 to encourage closer cooperation among African students. The Union published a bi-monthly, The African Newsletter, with news from chapters around the country -- pictured here is the Wilberforce chapter -- and from Africa, along with essays and analysis on the political and economic issues facing the continent.
