Cape Verdean Whalers

Cape Verdeans mostly settled in Massachusetts. By the end of the nineteenth century, with the demise of whaling, several men transformed former whalers and schooners into cargo ships that traded between New Bedford and Providence, Rhode Island, as well as the Cape Verde Islands.
