Abolition of the Slave Trade |
|
Britannia is trampling on the emblems of slavery, holding a banner declaring the abolition and attending to the voices of justice and religion. On the left, the trade is represented by a ship freighted with slaves and by the standard on which is inscribed "The sufferings of the Negroes." On the right is a bust of abolitionist William Wilberforce with a scroll containing the names of the principal speakers in favor of the abolition in both houses of Parliament.
