New York's black population stood at 91,700 in 1910; within ten years, it had reached 152,400, and by the time the Great Migration was over in 1930, there were 327,700 black New Yorkers. In Detroit, the 5,740 African Americans present in 1910 grew to 40,830 in 1920, and 120,000 in 1930.
